Bike burns out after collision with car in KK

KOTA KINABALU: A 53-year-old man was seriously injured after his high-powered Benelli motorcycle caught fire following a rear-end collision with a Perodua Kancil along Jalan Kampung Petagas, Taman Jumbo, here on Saturday morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 9.16am, arrived at the scene at 9.24am located 3.6km away, brought the situation under control by 9.40am, and concluded operations at 10am.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was handed over to the Health Ministry before being taken by ambulance to Hospital Queen Elizabeth for further treatment.

Three occupants in the Perodua Kancil were uninjured, although two women suffered trauma, while firefighters from Putatan fire station extinguished the fire using one hose line supplied from the fire engine tank, with assistance from police, health personnel and Civil Defence Force officers.
