KINABATANGAN: As at 11am on Saturday, voter turnout for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election and the Lamag state seat remained lower than the same period during the state election in November.

He said all 36 polling centres involving 117 voting streams opened at 7.30am and will close by 5.30pm, although several centres in areas difficult to access by road will close earlier between noon and 4pm, with eight centres using helicopters and seven using boats to transport ballot boxes.
Speaking after inspecting the SK Bukit Garam polling centre here on Saturday, Ramlan urged voters to cast their ballots within the remaining time, said results were expected as early as 10pm, and added that lower turnout may be due to the recent state election and voters residing outside the area.
He said the commission received five offences during the campaign period, involving four cases related to campaign materials and one case of provocation under monitoring procedures, adding that the Election Commission would carry out its duties with integrity in accordance with standard operating procedures and existing laws.
