Tenom: Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (Yapeim), through its Sabah Madani Ihsan Squad initiative, channelled a total of RM110,850 in aid to students, schools and religious institutions affected by flooding in the district.
Of the amount, RM17,700 was distributed as schooling assistance to 177 affected students, with each receiving RM100 to help ease their families’ financial burden and support continued schooling after the floods.
Yapeim also contributed RM15,000 for school equipment and infrastructure repairs involving three schools in the district, with each receiving RM5,000. In addition, RM12,750 was allocated to cover programme and logistics costs at the aid distribution venues, bringing YAPEIM’s total contribution to RM45,450.
Meanwhile, Yayasan Taqwa Wilayah Persekutuan provided food baskets worth RM20,400 to 204 beneficiaries and RM45,000 in assistance to nine surau and mosques, making up the overall programme contribution of RM110,850.
The aid was presented by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Senator Marhamah Rosli, at SJKC Tsi Sin here on Thusday.
She said the initiative reflected YAPEIM’s continued commitment to assisting communities affected by disasters and expressed hope that the assistance would help ease the burden of families impacted by the floods.
Also present were YAPEIM Director and Head of Socioeconomic Division Muhamad Khairul Anuar Ibrahim and Selabi Mohammad, representing YAPEIM Sabah management.
