TENOM: Deputy Chief Minister cum Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick inspected the railway line from Beaufort to Tenom to assess the condition of the service and its maintenance level.
He said the railway remains a primary mode of transport for residents along the Beaufort–Tenom route, particularly for work and school travel.
“I am satisfied with the continuous efforts and initiatives of the Sabah State Railway Department in ensuring the safety and sustainability of this service,” he said after completing the inspection here on Friday.
He also appreciated the department’s prompt action in addressing issues such as landslides and slope failures along the route, as well as ongoing improvements to assets and maintenance to ensure uninterrupted service.
Ewon said his ministry would begin a study on the Sabah Sustainable Transport Master Plan, covering land transport, including railways, as well as air and sea transport, with findings to be presented to the Cabinet before being shared with the public.
