Kota Kinabalu: More than 3,000 people gathered at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Thursday for an evening of reflection and spiritual renewal led by internationally renowned preacher Mufti Ismail Menk.
The “Mufti Menk Live in Sabah: Broken but Beloved” programme was jointly organised by a Mara Corp subsidiary, Glocal Link Travel and Tours, Faith Events and Al Falah Team Solutions, with full support from the State Government, marking its first appearance in Sabah.
Mufti Menk, a global Islamic scholar from Zimbabwe known for his moderate and heartfelt approach, spoke on life’s trials, forgiveness in Islam, and the importance of maintaining relationships with Allah and fellow human beings.
He emphasised that individuals may experience hardship but should not despair, urging continued faith and connection with Allah.
The programme drew a diverse audience, including dignitaries, State leaders, students, families and community figures, and was described by organisers as one of the State’s largest recent religious outreach events.
Among those present were Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman and his consort Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, several State Ministers, and senior officials.
Organising representative Nirvana Jalil Ghani said the response exceeded expectations with about 3,150 attendees, noting that the session’s theme resonated strongly with the audience and maintained engagement throughout.
The event concluded at about 10pm with a closing prayer led by Menk, followed by a meet-and-greet session where attendees queued for book signings and photographs.
