Kota Kinabalu: A motorcyclist and his pillion were killed in an accident involving a van along Jalan UMS, in Kibagu, on Sunday.
Kota Kinabalu Acting District Police Chief Supt Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman said the 7.10pm crash involved a Kia van and a Honda Vario 125 motorcycle.

“Initial investigations found that the van, travelling from Kampung Numbak towards 1Borneo, collided with the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
The motorcycle is believed to have entered the van’s lane,” he said in a statement.
The victims, both men, sustained severe head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers from Queen Elizabeth Hospital II. The van driver did not suffer any injury.
The motorcycle was severely damaged while the van suffered damage to its front section.
“No party is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, but blood samples will be taken for toxicology analysis,” said Syed Lot.
A fire and rescue team from Kota Kinabalu were deployed to the scene to assist in the operation.
Members of the public with information related to the incident are urged to come forward to assist in the investigation.
