Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus fixed March 16 for mention and released Masree on RM2,000 bail with a local surety, after his counsel Lawrence Lim sought a lower amount, citing his responsibility to care for his father.
In a separate case before the same court, a 44-year-old mechanic was jailed for 10 weeks and fined RM1,000, in default four weeks’ imprisonment, after pleading guilty to causing hurt to his girlfriend in Penampang.
The court heard that Othman Ruzman assaulted the woman at about 10pm on Dec 31, 2025, after suspecting infidelity, and despite mitigation that it was his first offence and that he has six children, the prosecution urged a deterrent sentence due to the seriousness of the case.
