He said the open halls, each covering about 6,900sq ft, are equipped with basic facilities and intended to serve as multipurpose venues for community use.
“These open-concept halls are designed to meet the needs of residents at all levels, whether for official functions, weddings or indoor sports activities.
“They can also be utilised as venues for weekly tamu (traditional markets), as implemented at the Kampung Gadong Tamu, which helps boost the local economy,” he said.
Each hall can accommodate up to 350 people at one time.
Ruslan was speaking after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kampung Bangkalalak Open Tamu Hall, here, Jan 12.
He added that the State Government plans to construct three more similar facilities in several zones next year, in view of the high demand for such infrastructure in rural areas.
“For the upcoming phase, three additional open halls are scheduled to be built starting in April next year, with a target of constructing three halls annually to meet the aspirations of residents in this constituency,” he said.
Ruslan, who is also Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry, said the design of the halls is generally similar, depending on site size, with estimated dimensions of 115ft x 60ft.
He said construction costs are estimated at around RM400,000 per hall, subject to fluctuations in building material prices.
