KENINGAU: Residents of Kampung Rimbayan Sook are appealing to the relevant authorities to repair the village road, which has deteriorated badly.

Residents’ spokesperson, Petrus Bunan, said the damaged road has made it difficult for villagers to transport their agricultural produce.

He said the road is especially hard to access during the rainy season, as it becomes muddy and slippery.

Apart from difficulties in transporting produce, parents are also facing problems sending their children to school.

“Just yesterday (Monday), some students had to walk about 1km to school because vehicles could not pass through the road,” he said.

He added that in addition to the muddy and slippery conditions, a collapsed culvert has further obstructed access.

“If the damaged road and culvert are not repaired, the situation will worsen and could affect the residents’ economy, as agricultural produce cannot be transported out,” he stressed.
