SOOK: The action of several plantations and factories around the district in disposing of waste at rubbish collection points provided by the Keningau District Council (MDK) have resulted in an accumulation of garbage.
Assistant Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Jordan Jude Ellron, said that plantation and factory managements in the district should instead dispose of their waste directly at the landfill site located at Batu 11 along the Sook-Keningau road.
“If this is complied with by plantation and factory operators, it would help reduce excessive waste accumulation at the rubbish collection site in Sook town,” he said during a courtesy visit to the Keningau District Council on Friday.
In this regard, Jordan, who is also the Tulid State Assemblyman, suggested that the District Council install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the rubbish collection site to identify unauthorized parties who dispose of waste indiscriminately.
