LAHAD DATU: Police arrested five motorcyclists and seized 10 motorcycles during an Op Samseng Jalanan carried out in several hotspot areas, here, Saturday night.
District Police Chief, ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said 32 summonses were issued.
The operation was accompanied by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, with Special Branch, Crime Investigation Division and Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division, as well as police.
A total of 46 individuals and 35 motorcycles were inspected in Bandar Sri Perdana, Bandar Fajar central and Jalan Lahad Datu-Sandakan as well as Jalan Lahad Datu-Tawau.
“Following the operation, five motorcyclists were detained for not having identification documents and riding without licence.
“A total of 32 summonses were issued for various offences and 10 motorcycles were seized under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
Dzulbaharin said investigation was carried out under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Police reminded parents to always monitor their children to avoid them being involved in activities that could endanger their lives and other road users.
Police will not compromise against street thugs as it may endanger other road users and operation will be intensify to curb such activities.
