Sandakan complex’s facilities in dire need of upgrades
Kota Kinabalu: Sandakan Sports Complex’s facilities are in dire need of upgrading, according to Assistant Minister of Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy (Myspace) Datuk Seri Anil Sandhu (pic) after a visit last Friday.

He was alarmed by the condition of gym equipment and the poor state of the hockey stadium turf.

“The gym equipment here, having come from Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex, was decades old, dated back to the nineties and has never been replaced.

“The turf in the hockey stadium was also not maintained and it was in appalling state and raised significant safety concerns.

Kota Kinabalu: KOTA KINABALU: Fiesta Mega Raya (FMR) 2026 is set to be the largest and most prestigious Hari Raya celebration in Sabah, taking place from March 7 to 18, at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here.
“My findings indicate a critical need for funding to replace and upgrade these facilities if we are to nurture athletes from the district capable of bringing home medals for Malaysia,” he said.

Anil was accompanied by the Ministry’s deputy permanent secretary Adanan @Adnan Atin for the official visit.
