TAWAU: Police arrested a foreign man on Friday after he allegedly threatened to kill his 61-year-old mother-in-law during a confrontation at Kampung Haji Matahir along Jalan Merotai.

ACP Jasmin Hussin said the suspect is believed to have acted aggressively inside a room, issuing death threats and claiming he would poison the victim.

The incident was reported to have occurred at about noon while the local woman was eating at her home, prompting fear for her own safety and that of her family.

The distressed victim later lodged a police report, leading officers to track down and arrest the suspect at about 5.22pm on the same day.

Police are investigating the case under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, with checks also revealing the man’s identification documents had expired.
