SEMPORNA: A fishing boat was destroyed by fire in front of Sri Gaya waters, in Semporna, on Wednesday. The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 5.27pm.
A team of firefighters from Semporna Fire and Rescue Station (Atas Air) was dispatched to the scene in two boats.
Upon arrival, the boat was already fully engulfed in flames, and firefighters launched an operation to put out the fire using a 100-foot hose drawing seawater.
The fire was put under control at 6pm. No casualties reported in the incident.
The team called off the operation after ensuing there was no other danger in the area.
