KINABATANGAN: Several main roads here will be temporarily closed from Jan 10 in conjunction with the by-elections for the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat and Lamag state seat to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow.
The Election Commission (EC) has set Nomination Day on Jan 10, with polling and vote counting scheduled for Jan 24.
In a statement, the district police headquarters said the closure will involve Jalan Dato Pengiran Galpam, from in front of the Syariah Court to the T-junction leading to Jalan Dato Malek Chua.
The road will be closed on Nomination Day from 7am to noon on Jan 10, and again on polling and counting day from 5pm on Jan 24 until counting is completed and the result announced.
Meanwhile, the farmers’, public and weekly markets will also be temporarily closed from 2pm on Jan 9 to 8am on Jan 11 for Nomination Day, and from 2pm on Jan 23 to noon on Jan 25 for vote counting, to facilitate election operations and crowd control.
