Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Elge Bakuk, said the rescue team faced difficulties in retrieving the body due to the river’s deep and strong current.
It had to use an alternative route through an oil palm plantation to reach the location of the victim using a Vigo utility vehicle.
“After extracting the body from the swampy area, the body was then transported to the main road using the Vigo utility vehicle.
“The body was then handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
