SEMPORNA: A foreigner was detained and 80 gallons of petrol were seized in an operation at Kampung Batu, here.
The arrest and seizure were made during a raid on an unnumbered premises by Kunak 22nd Battalion General Operation Force (GOF) with cooperation from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).
Kunak GOF, in a statement, said the operation was carried out under Op Taring Bravo 1 at 5.45pm.
An inspection on a wooden boat found 80 gallons containing petrol, suspected to be smuggled out to the neighbouring country.
The team arrested a foreign man to assist in investigation and seized a wooden boat, two engines and some equipment.
All the seizures were worth an estimated RM67,000 and the suspect was handed over to the Semporna KPDN for further action under Section 20(1) of the Control of Supply Act 1961.
