They also used abusive language, attempted to open the vehicle doors, kicked and hit the police car, hindering officers from performing their duties.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief ACP Kasim Muda, said the four arrested were aged between 30 and 50.
Officers seized a golf club believed to have been used during the confrontation. The arrests follow the circulation of a viral video related to a madrasah.
“Police guarantee that investigations will be conducted professionally, transparently and in accordance with the law to safeguard public safety and order,” he said.
The incident occurred at about 11.55pm on December 14 and involved several madrasah students and a man in his 30s.
A one-minute and 30-second video recording also went viral on social media showing the man slapping, hitting and kicking the victims, including using a helmet to hit them.
