A SUM of RM268.95 million is allocated to strengthen food security and support agriculture, fisheries, and livestock.
Masidi said the allocation is to ensure sustainable production, improved incomes and stronger rural livelihoods.
Stressing that agriculture is the backbone of Sabah economy, he said:
“This allocation demonstrates our commitment to sustainable food production and strengthening livelihoods for farmers, fishers and livestock breeders.
He said RM82.5 million under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) has been allocated to modernise farming techniques, introduce high-yield crops, and expand irrigation and mechanisation projects.
An additional RM45.8 million will be used to enhance fisheries infrastructure, including landing jetties, cold storage facilities, and aquaculture programmes.
Meanwhile, livestock development will receive RM40.2 million for breeding programmes, veterinary services, and feed support to ensure a stable protein supply.
Masidi said vocational and technical courses in agriculture, fisheries, and livestock, amounting to RM32.85 million, will complement sector development by equipping Sabahans with practical skills for modern and sustainable practices.
He added that RM35 million in subsidies and financial assistance will support smallholders and encourage investment in high-value production, while RM20 million has been allocated for research on climate-resilient crops, disease-resistant livestock, and sustainable fisheries.
He noted that investments in ICT infrastructure will support modern farming and fisheries operations by improving data management, logistics, and communication across rural and urban areas.
Market linkages and trade support will also be strengthened to enhance product competitiveness through logistics, packaging, and marketing assistance.
Masidi said the 2026 State Budget ensures Sabah’s agriculture, fisheries, and livestock sectors remain productive, innovative, and resilient, supporting food security and community well-being.
