KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister’s wife Datin Seri Juliah Salag said the family institution needs to be continuously strengthened as it forms the crucial foundation for the nation’s social, economic and cultural development.
She said the family institution plays a vital role in shaping ethical and responsible individuals.
“In an era of rapid technological advancement, rising cost of living and fast-changing social norms, families require wisdom, knowledge and heightened awareness to remain strong and harmonious,” she said at the Inspirasi Keluarga Madani Seminar, here, Saturday.
“We all know that the family is a person’s first school. At home, the most basic place and closest to the heart, is where morals, values and character are formed.
“Therefore, spending time with family is among the most important efforts in building and strengthening family relationships,” she said.
She added that by spending time together, family members can discuss challenges and successes, share interests and activities and strengthen bonds that are essential for emotional and psychological wellbeing.
Juliah hopes all participants would benefit from the meaningful seminar and return home with new knowledge to create a more peaceful, happy family atmosphere that supports the mental wellbeing of all family members.
“Family wellbeing cannot be shouldered by parents alone. It also requires support from all parties, including the community, non-governmental organisations, government agencies, the private sector, women’s associations and educational institutions,” she said.
The seminar was officiated by Prime Minister’s wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, in her capacity as Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amal Silaturrahim Isteri-Isteri Harapan Malaysia (Kasih Malaysia) Chairperson.
Juliah hopes the seminar would provide great benefits and serve as a catalyst for building more prosperous Madani families.
Present was the Head of State’s wife, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, among others.
