KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will intensify tourism development for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and the proposed Visit Sabah Year 2027, with RM174.45 million allocated to the Tourism, Culture, and Environment Ministry (KePKAS).
The budget supports high-impact programmes, community-based tourism, digital marketing, and major cultural events.

Under the 13th Malaysia Plan, RM493.02 million is approved for 53 projects, including new museums, the Kota Kinabalu Performing Arts Centre, a digital Arte Museum, marine galleries, and upgrades to islands and cultural centres.
Additional allocations include RM38.7 million for infrastructure improvements, RM6.7 million for museum preservation, and RM18.97 million for operational expenditure.
Initiatives like Ethnic Cultural Mapping 2026–2030 aim to document and preserve Sabah’s diverse heritage.
