KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Government is prioritizing basic infrastructure improvements, allocating RM4.8 billion under the 13th Malaysia Plan for 318 projects, including 106 ongoing and 212 new initiatives.
The Public Works Department will receive RM2.67 billion for 173 projects, including roads, bridges, slopes, and government buildings, with RM600.69 million earmarked for 2026 operations and repairs to landslide-affected areas.

The Sabah Water Department is allocated RM1.77 billion for 77 projects, with RM848 million in 2026 for building and upgrading water treatment plants in Papar, Lahad Datu, Tawau, Kota Kinabalu, and Sandakan, alongside maintenance of critical facilities.
The Sabah Sewerage Services Department gets RM347.84 million for 65 projects, including sewer pipe repairs, new sludge treatment plants, and master plan reviews, with RM203.91 million for 2026 operations.
Additional projects funded through federal loans total RM139.81 million, targeting sewerage upgrades across multiple towns.
