KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Government has set aside RM437.93 million in the 2026 State Budget to strengthen human capital through academic, vocational and spiritual education.
State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the allocation reflects the Government’s focus on building a skilled, innovative workforce for a knowledge-driven economy.
Under the 13th Malaysia Plan, RM112.4 million has been approved for 36 projects involving the Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry and Jheains.
Key allocations include RM151.08 million for Islamic religious affairs and RM90 million for non-Islamic religious bodies and mission schools.
Library development receives RM47.3 million, particularly for rural and mobile library services.
Vocational and technical training is being expanded with RM39.24 million for STEM, TVET, digital technology, hospitality, oil and gas, safety, health, agriculture and plantation courses.
Another RM27.96 million goes to Human Resource Development Department training programmes, while RM32.85 million supports agriculture, fisheries and livestock skills.
Scholarships and education assistance will continue, including MUET fee aid expected to benefit more than 8,400 students.
Masidi said investing in education and skills is essential to prepare Sabahans for future opportunities and to drive sustainable economic growth.
