KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn Bhd (SEC) is preparing to launch Malaysia’s first utility-scale wind turbine project in northern Sabah, marking a major milestone in the state’s renewable energy development.
CEO Datuk Adzmir Abd Rahman said the project will strengthen Sabah’s clean energy landscape and contribute to a more sustainable energy future for the state.

The announcement was made during SEC’s inaugural Media Appreciation Night on Thursday, which was held to recognise the critical role of journalists in providing accurate and balanced coverage of Sabah’s energy sector.
Adzmir also highlighted the media’s contributions in reporting on key SEC initiatives, including the Ulu Padas Hydroelectric Project, which has become a central pillar in Sabah’s renewable energy plans.
SEC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining open, transparent, and constructive communication with the media, emphasising that responsible reporting is essential to build public trust and support for the state’s renewable energy journey.
