Kota Kinabalu: A variety of performances will be held in conjunction with the 2025 Sabah State-Level Christmas Celebration at Padang Merdeka from Dec 16 to 19.
Co-Chairman of the organising committee from the Sabah Council of Churches, Father Thomas Yip, said the celebration of dance and entertainment is not merely a festive event but also a platform to strengthen Sabah’s identity as a peaceful and harmonious State.
“This celebration is not just a festive occasion; it reinforces Sabah’s identity as a state of peace and harmony.
“When communities gather in an atmosphere filled with unity and tranquillity, people witness compassion, love and the strengthening of relationships among one another.
“These are the moments that shape the soul of a state — beyond its physical infrastructure,” he said during an interview session on Bah Atur Kupi-kupi FM with radio host Boy Vanz, on Wednesday.
He said this year’s celebration carries the theme “Hope for Peace in Love”, which reflects the unity and harmony of Sabah’s multiracial community.
“This theme conveys the message that true peace and progress can only be achieved when communities stand united, supporting one another with love, understanding and respect.
“It also emphasises that love is the foundation of unity, while peace allows hope to flourish,” Thomas said.
