SOOK: The long-awaited Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Trus Madi will begin operations on 12 Jan 2026.
The Ministry of Education Deputy Secretary-General (Planning and Development) Datuk Wan Hashim Wan Rahim said the planning for the construction of this secondary school began during the Tenth Malaysia Plan (RMK-10).
However, its implementation was delayed due to several factors such as the terrain and other related challenges.
“But today, we are grateful because this secondary school building, worth more than RM51 million, has finally been fully completed and will benefit 832 students from six nearby primary schools, including 116 Year Six pupils who will continue their studies at the secondary level,” he said during the officiating ceremony at the school’s hall on Thursday.
He added that the school building is located in Kampung Sinua, Sook, covering an area of 10.117 hectares.
He explained that the school was developed with a conducive and easy-to-maintain design to ensure a better learning environment, while providing positive and effective impact to both students and teachers.
The school is equipped with an administration block, classrooms, a multipurpose hall, dining hall, surau, boys’ dormitory, girls’ dormitory, teachers’ quarters, and various recreational facilities.
At the same time, Wan Hashim expressed appreciation to the developer for successfully completing the construction of the school building.
He also extended his appreciation to the Sabah State Education Department, Keningau District Education Office, strategic partners, and related agencies.
Also present were the Sabah State Education Department Director Datuk Raisin Saidin; Keningau District Education Officer Johari Sabin and Areach Marketing and Supplies Sdn Bhd Director Muhammad Fa’izun Azwan Ahmad Sabli.
