SANDAKAN: Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Abdul Said Pimping urged voters in the Gum-Gum state constituency to make a careful and rational choice in the upcoming polls on Nov 29.
Speaking after visiting the Media Centre at Batu 7, Abdul Said said he offers experienced, government-backed leadership rather than “promises of the moon and stars.”
PH, he said, is part of the Federal Unity Government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, bringing realistic political proposals grounded in administrative experience.
“Voters should decide with a calm heart and a clear mind, not swayed by emotions,” he said.
Abdul Said outlined three commitments to the people: to be their eyes, ears and voice.
He said he would personally monitor community issues, listen to residents’ needs and suggestions, and bring all matters to the highest level for resolution.
He emphasised that he does not intend to repeat past leaders’ mistakes of overpromising, instead offering commitments that can be realistically fulfilled.
As chairman of the Libaran Fishermen Association for nearly eight years, Abdul Said highlighted his work in supporting the fishing community.
He promised to ensure that all fishermen, whether coastal or deep-sea, receive proper rights and government support.
“Fishermen must have complete documentation, including boat licences and equipment, to be eligible for government aid. If they don’t, we help them get it first,” he said.
Beyond fisheries, Abdul Said said he will also focus on youth and women’s development if given the mandate.
