TUARAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reminded Sabahans to judge leaders by their performance while in office, not by what they say after losing power or returning to politics to criticise others.
He said it was unreasonable for former leaders to attack the government as though they never had the chance to address long-standing issues when they were in charge.
Speaking at a meet-the-people event here in Thursday, Anwar said leadership must be assessed through work done now, adding that some only become vocal after retirement despite showing little effort during their tenure.
He highlighted ongoing progress under the Sabah–Federal partnership, including MA63 implementation, energy autonomy and the push to resolve the 40 per cent special grant through Cabinet and parliamentary processes.
Anwar also praised caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor as a principled leader focused on water, electricity and roads, urging voters to choose representatives based on sincerity and proven service.
