Kota Kinabalu: Caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s collaborative leadership style, marked by extensive consultation with all stakeholders has been instrumental in effectively addressing the challenges and opportunities facing Sabah and its people, according to former Senator Datuk John Ambrose.
In addition to his unique leadership style, the veteran politician affirmed that Hajiji’s actions consistently align with his pronouncements.
“I am confident that Sabah and its people will continue to prosper under the guidance of the Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government,” John said.
Recalling the Kinabalu Move of 2023, John said the plan faltered because Sabah Umno Chief Datuk Bung Moktar Radin allegedly failed to consult his six elected assemblymen.
The Umno faction, led by Bung, reportedly sought to form an alliance with Warisan, headed by former Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, with the aim of toppling the GRS government.
“It ultimately failed because Hajiji, who was appointed as Chief Minister in September 2020, continued to command the support of assemblymen from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Pakatan Harapan.”
Bung was subsequently removed as Deputy Chief Minister and Tanjung Keramat Assemblyman Datuk Shahelmey Yahya appointed in his place.
Regarding the alignment of Hajiji’s actions with his statements, John noted that the GRS coalition government continues to effectively implement healthcare programs throughout the State and in dealings with Putrajaya.
“The Chief Minister recently announced an increase in scholarship grants for deserving students, in addition to extending other educational assistance to various schools.
These are just some of the clear examples of the ruling government’s commitment,” John emphasised.
“Clearly, Hajiji does not simply make empty promises to the people of Sabah,” he said.
