LAHAD DATU: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Vice President Senator Saraswathy Kandasami said the people of Segama need an elected representative who can directly convey their concerns to both the State and Federal governments.
She noted that this is the first time in 13 years that voters in the area have the opportunity to elect a candidate from the ruling coalition capable of delivering substantial benefits to the community.
A Pakatan Harapan (PH) victory would give the constituency’s representative direct access to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who also chairs PH and leads PKR, enabling effective communication of residents’ needs.
“Many issues here require urgent attention and our candidate can bring these matters to the attention of both Federal and State governments because we have strong ties with the state administration,” said the Deputy National Unity Minister during a community gathering with PH candidate Romansa Lamin.
Saraswathy highlighted the Prime Minister’s commitment to Sabah over the past three years through significant budget allocations and special grants to the state.
“The Federal Government under the Prime Minister’s leadership has prioritised infrastructure development, electricity, and water supply for Sabah. The Prime Minister has pledged that during his administration, Sabah will enjoy comprehensive development in all three areas,” she said.
Confident of PH’s performance, Saraswathy said all 10 PH candidates contesting in the state election are expected to secure strong victories, citing positive public response and recognition of the Prime Minister’s contributions, particularly regarding issues under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
