KOTA BELUD: Caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said first-time Sabahan homebuyers would receive assistance to cover their housing deposit if Gabungan Rakyat Sabah returns to power on Nov 29.
He said during a GRS roadshow here on Tuesday that the initiative, targeted at homes priced below RM500,000, was part of the coalition’s plans should it be given a new mandate in the 17th Sabah election.
Hajiji added that Sabahans aged 60 would also be eligible for a new monthly aid scheme, which he said could be implemented once ongoing negotiations on the state’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement are concluded.
He cautioned voters against claims by the opposition promising sweeping change, saying many issues affecting ordinary Sabahans were left unresolved when they previously held key federal and state positions.
Hajiji expressed confidence that GRS candidates in Tempasuk and Usukan would deliver better representation, saying both areas needed leaders focused on development rather than political rivalry.
