KOTA KINABALU: The Election Commission has confirmed that Pakatan Harapan’s candidate in Silam remains on the ballot despite his intention to withdraw.
The commission acknowledged receiving notice from Abd Halim Sidek Gulam Hassan (

It said election rules stipulate that no candidate may retract their nomination after 10am on nomination day.
The commission explained that the rule is provided under Regulation 9 of the Election (Conduct of Elections) Regulations 1981.
As a result, Abd Halim’s name will remain on the Silam ballot for the 17th Sabah Election.
