LAHAD DATU: Police arrested a 28-year-old local and seized ketum powder as well as cough syrup in an operation at Jalan Kampung Terusan, here, on Friday.
District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the suspected was picked up from a vehicle by a Narcotic Crime Investigation team.
He the suspect attempted to escape.
“An inspection of the vehicle found 50kgm of ketum powder packed in small plastics.
“The team also recovered 22 bottles of cough syrup (Dynadryl Syrup),” he said, adding that the seizures were worth RM4,250.
According to Dzulbaharin, the suspect was taken to the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters for further action.
Urine tests conducted on the suspect were negative for drugs.
The case will be investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poison Act 1952.
