KOTA KINABALU: Honouring the 40 per cent entitlement is not an act of generosity but the fulfilment of Malaysia’s promise, said Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) secretary-general Datuk Julita Majungki on Saturday.
She said PBS fully supports and stands in solidarity with the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Presidential Council’s position on the High Court decision affirming Sabah’s constitutional right to the 40 per cent special grant.
Julita said the ruling reaffirms PBS’s long-held view that Sabah’s rights are not privileges but part of the constitutional framework that underpins Malaysia’s formation under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
She commended Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s prompt directive for the State’s agencies to study the judgment and prepare for constructive engagement with the Federal Government.
Julita said PBS joins the GRS Council in urging the Federal Government to respect the decision and uphold fairness for Sabah, strengthening national unity through sincerity and mutual respect.
