Kota Kinabalu: After waiting for more than 30 years, 56 residents from Kampung Tidung II and Kampung Dagat finally received their Native Land Permits an event long awaited by the communities.
The official handover ceremony was held in Sukau and led by Dato’ Juhari Janan, head of Sukau GRS division.
The event was organized by the Sabah Native Affairs Council for the Sukau constituency.
Also present were District Chief Ramsah Bin Jakaria and representatives from the GRS Sukau division, who witnessed the momentous occasion.
Residents were overjoyed, as many had waited across two generations for the chance to own land. The ceremony saw 56 land grants handed over to villagers who had long dreamed of having land to call their own.
For them, it was a moment filled with emotion and relief.
“This proves that the GRS government, under the leadership of Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Bin Haji Noor, our Chief Minister, has never failed in serving the people,” said Juhari.
He added that the Chief Minister has always cared deeply about the wellbeing of the people, and land ownership is one of the key ways to improve their lives.
Juhari also emphasized that the State Government remains committed in helping rural communities gain access to land, which is vital for building a better future and strengthening local development.
For the villagers, the event marked a historic occasion, ending decades of waiting and opening the door to new opportunities.
Juhari said he was grateful the event took place at the right time to ease the burden of the people in his constituency. He emphasized that it is his responsibility to continue uplifting their lives and helping them achieve a better standard of living.
