LAWAS: Sarawak’s Frenz Legend lifted the Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hassan Cup after defeating Sabah’s BSV 1-0 in the final of the Seborneo Veteran Football Championship at Lawas Stadium on Sunday.
The winning goal came in the second half, earning Frenz Legend the champion’s prize of RM15,000, along with a trophy and medals.
Runner-up BSV received RM8,000, a trophy and medals, while Kudat Classic from Sabah and TJV90 from Brunei shared third place, each taking home RM4,000, a trophy and medals.
In the semi-finals, BSV beat Kudat Classic 2-0 to secure their place in the final, while Frenz Legend advanced after edging out TJV90 in a penalty shootout.
The two-day tournament, organised by Pemuda PBB Bukit Sari, was held from October 25 and attracted 27 teams — 13 from Sarawak, seven from Sabah, four from Brunei and three from Labuan.
Sarawak Deputy Premier and Bukit Sari Assemblyman Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan officiated the prize presentation ceremony.
