“Looking ahead to 2026, we are preparing to launch two new projects in Sandakan and three in Kota Kinabalu.” Ben said.

“It will indeed be a dynamic and busy period for us, but one that reflects our unwavering drive to deliver transformative, high-quality developments that raise the bar for real estate in Sabah.” He added.

Made in Sabah, for Sabahan, he concluded.

Meanwhile, in his speech, Walter said, it is indeed an honour and a pleasure to witness the official opening of the Bedi Berhad office at Sejati Sentral-a significant milestone not only for the company, but also for the continued growth and transformation of Sandakan into a thriving hub of commerce and development.

“As I approach this new office, I was filled with a sense of relief and admiration - captivated by the creativity and thoughtfulness behind the development of Sejati Sentral.” he said.

He congratulates Bedi Berhad for turning this visionary project into reality.

Walter said what makes this moment even more special is that Sejati Sentral is the first commercial shoplot development in Malaysia to receive green certification.

“This is a remarkable achievement which proudly puts Sandakan on the national map as sustainable development,” he said.

Walter is confident that Sejati Sentral will grow into a vibrant commercial centre, strategically located along the main highway to Sandakan Airport, and surrounded by a dense residential area.

The project features 141 commercial lots, a five-storey hotel, a drive-through restaurant, and six two-storey link shops-a promising setup for economic growth as well as employments for local.

“We must remember that the development of a new commercial centre means the creation of business opportunities, employment, government revenue, and ultimately-progress for Sandakan.” he said.

Majlis Perbandaran Sandakan (MPS) he said plays its role in facilitating and regulating development.

“We aim to work hand-in-hand with developers, making them feel welcome and supported-not frustrated,” he said.

Walter said few key initiatives that MPS has implemented since he assumed office eight months ago in terms of effort of MPS business and investment friendly as well as encourage economic growth.

Walter said they have fast-tracked the trading license application and renewal process.

“What used to take months, now takes just one month for new applications, and one day for renewals.”

He added MPS also expedited Development Plan (DP) approvals which previously taking 8-12 months, now reduced to just 3 months.

As for Building Plan (BP) approvals used to take up to 6 months-now, they complete them in 1 month.

He also said Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) approvals are now also processed within one month but with related term and conditions.

Walter said MPS plans to extend business operating hours in Sandakan until 4.00am.

With these initiatives, MPS hopes to revive Sandakan’s legacy as a vibrant and prosperous town.

“We want to breathe life back into our nightlife, support local entrepreneurs, and draw more visitors from surrounding areas-because Sandakan has so much to offer,” he said.
