Kundasang: Kundasang incumbent Assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam stressed that GRS government is committed to continue developing the youth as the cornerstone of the State’s future progress, in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan.
He stated that various initiatives have been and are being implemented to enhance human capital development, ensuring that Sabah’s youth continue to excel in various fields.
“Various initiatives have been undertaken to propel the youth forward in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya development plan,” the Deputy Chief Minister added.
“This is evident in the provision of Sabah state education assistance, which includes various forms such as scholarships, student donations, education funds, equipment, and cash assistance,” he said while engaging with the youth of Kampung Dumpiring Bawah, recently.
Joachim, who is also Acting President of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), stated that overall, the education assistance aims to improve the quality of education in Sabah and ensure that more local children can pursue education without financial obstacles and burdens.
At the event, he received new PBS membership forms submitted by Nazrul Mohamin and welcomed their entry into the party.
Joachim said in addition to education, the GRS Government also pays attention to the social welfare of youth, including through the Rumah Mesra Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) housing programme for newly married young couples.
To this end, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor recently announced an additional 10 units of Rumah Mesra SMJ in each State Legislative Assembly (DUN) area starting next year, bringing the total to 50 units in each DUN compared to 40 units this year.
“This step demonstrates the GRS Government’s concern for the needs of youth, especially young couples who want to build their own lives,” he said.
In this regard, Joachim emphasised his readiness to continue the existing development agenda and intensify efforts post the 17th State Election (PRN) to ensure the continued prosperity of the people in Kundasang.
Also present were Kundasang PBS Youth chief Khairol Majide Kalimin and local community leaders.
In addition to Kampung Dumpiring Bawah, Joachim also received new PBS memberships from residents of Kampung Patau.
