“It is a proud moment to lead Sandakan’s young tennis players to represent the district at Saga XI in Tawau. For this edition, we have combined both senior and junior players to strengthen the team.
“For the record, Sandakan are the defending gold medallists in the team event. Discipline and team spirit remain the main pillars of our success,” he said when met during the team tennis quarter-finals at the Tawau Sports Complex tennis court on Monday.
He added that preparations began as early as February, and his players have been consistently taking part in tournaments organised by fellow tennis enthusiasts, such as League 1 and League 2.
The final for the team event will take place on Oct 14, while the individual event is scheduled for Oct 17.
