KOTA BELUD: The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (Kuskop), through its agency Tekun Nasional, has disbursed RM816 million in financing to more than 30,000 entrepreneurs nationwide between January and September this year.
Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said of the total, RM95 million was channelled to 4,150 entrepreneurs in Sabah.
He said in Kota Belud district alone, RM9.1 million in financing had been disbursed to 287 entrepreneurs during the same period.
“I am proud that the Tamu Entrepreneur Financing Scheme (SPUT), which I introduced in 2023 specifically for Tamu entrepreneurs in Sabah and Sarawak, has performed remarkably well.
“This scheme has also shown an excellent loan repayment rate with a non-performing loan (NPL) ratio of only 0.5 per cent.
“This demonstrates our entrepreneurs’ accountability in managing their financing responsibly,” he said in a statement after closing the Tekun Nasional and Kuskop entrepreneur financing briefing for the Taginambur area, here, Friday.
Also present was Tekun Nasional Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Adam Abdul Ghani.
At the same time, Ewon said he has submitted the proposal for special programmes for communities and entrepreneurs in Sabah and Sarawak to be continued under the 13th Malaysia Plan to the Ministry of Finance.
He added that small and medium enterprises, as well as micro-industries, play an important role as the backbone of the nation’s economic development.
