TAWAU: There is an increase in the sexual exploitation of children online, particularly crimes involving the sharing and access of child pornography, according to Sabah Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan. He said according to police data, child pornography was shared between 2017 and August 2022 using a total of 106,764 Internet Protocol (IP) addresses that were registered in Malaysia.
“This trend shows an unhealthy growth, considering the exposure to child pornography leads to sex addiction and can ultimately lead to other sexual behaviours that lead to criminal offences like rape, molest and sextortion,” he said.
