KUNAK: The Kunak Community Hall Vaccination Centre (PPV) will stop operating after Oct 15, said Kunak District Officer Majaran Osman.
The Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB) Chairman said the immunisation programme would still continue after Oct 15, but at the Malaysian Health Ministry’s (MOH) facilities.
For Kunak residents who wish to get vaccinated after Oct 15, they may do so at the District Health Clinic or Kunak Hospital.
The Kunak Community Hall PPV started operating on June 8 and catered to both citizens and non-citizens.
Majaran extended his gratitude to all parties in the PPV, including MOH staff, the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF), the Civil Defence Force (APM) and volunteers who carried out their duties during the immunisation programme.
“Kunak has managed to surpass the threshold of 60 per cent vaccinated adults, and we do expect the vaccination rate to increase,” he told Daily Express when contacted, Thursday.
The State Government has previously stipulated that districts with 60 per cent immunisation would be eligible for inter-district travel within the established zones.
Kunak Health Officer Dr Izaidi Salman Yazid said 62.78 per cent of adults aged 18 and above in the district have been fully vaccinated, whereas 67.69 per cent of adults have completed their first dose.
For the immunisation of adolescents aged 12 to 17, some 64.12 per cent of this group have already been administered the first dose of Pfizer-BioNTech.
Izaidi said the teenagers who received their first dose at the Kunak Community Hall PPV will receive their second dose at the Kunak Health Clinic.
For those who were vaccinated at their schools, they will continue with their second dose at the same location according to the set schedule.
