Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) demolished 25 illegal structures in a squatter settlement behind Alam Mesra as part of an ongoing enforcement operation on mangrove forest reserve land, with 125 more structures to be cleared in stages.
The operation, carried out on Thursday, involved DBKK’s Enforcement Department working alongside the police, Sabah Electricity and the Land and Survey Department.

The 25 demolitions were among 150 notices of eviction, demolition and relocation already served on residents of the area.
Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah, in a statement here, said the remaining 125 structures would be cleared in phases according to a scheduled operational plan.
Separately, DBKK also conducted a census of 101 houses in the fire-victim resettlement area at Kampung Cenderamata 2 in Likas on the same day for data verification and coordination of further action.
