Tawau man found unconscious pronounced dead
TAWAU: A man in his 50s, who was found unconscious behind a bookstore at Batu 3, Jalan Apas, on Friday, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Acting Tawau Police Chief Supt Wilynton Enchana Watt said the victim’s death was confirmed by medical personnel from the Health Ministry.

He said police received a report at 2.08pm and a team was dispatched to the location.

“Upon arrival, police found a man lying by the roadside near a bookstore,” he said, Friday.

Wilynton said initial examinations found no signs of physical injuries, struggle or criminal elements on the victim’s body.

“A further inspection of the surrounding area also did not reveal anything suspicious,” he said, adding that the deceased was later identified by family members at Tawau Hospital.

The body has been sent to the Forensic Unit at Tawau Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
