RANAU: Stallone Fitness Gym (SFG) Bundu Tuhan enjoyed a successful outing at two major combat sports events in Sabah, bringing home multiple medals and special honours through their boxing and Muaythai athletes.
At the 72nd Sabah Boxing Championship Mayor DBKK Cup 2026, at the Damai Multipurpose Hall, Kota Kinabalu recently, five boxers represented SFG.
The team returned with two gold medals, two silver medals and one special Best Boxer award.
Leading the achievements was Isaac Hanz Roger, 24, from Bundu Tuhan, who won the Elite Category gold medal.
Fellow boxer Stevwelldo Simon, 16, also from Bundu Tuhan, secured the Youth Category gold medal and was named Best Youth Boxer of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Muhd Danis Dzulfikrie, 14, won a silver medal in the Youth Category, while Mike Malen Kennedy, 15, also earned a silver medal in the Youth Category.
Another SFG athlete, Eldron Adrian Peter, 25, delivered a commendable performance in the Elite Category and gained valuable competitive experience throughout the championship.
SFG coach Mohamad Rizal Omar said the athletes underwent several months of intensive preparation focusing on physical fitness, technical skills, discipline and mental strength.
“Preparations were quite challenging as we had to ensure the athletes could balance their commitments between school, work and training. However, they showed excellent discipline throughout the training period.
“I am very proud of the fighting spirit displayed by all our boxers. This success is the result of the athletes’ hard work, support from parents and the commitment of the entire team,” he said.
Rizal expressed hope that the achievement would inspire more youths in Ranau to take up boxing and continue raising the profile of the district and Sabah in the future.
Earlier, SFG women’s team also recorded an impressive medal haul at the Ladies Fight Muaythai Sabah Expo 2026, a women-only championship open to all age categories.
The competition was held at The Palm Square, Centre Point Kota Kinabalu and was managed by women’s team manager Aziera Donald.
The team won a total of four gold medals and five silver medals.
Gold medal winners were Fatin Nur Fasiha Mohd Imran, 3, Nellysha Ryhana Maslin, 16 and Nur Awliya Bella, 12. Meanwhile, silver medal winners were Deshandra Dorius, 17, Daphne Innocentcia Desmond, 17, Veccalista Kenneday, 13, Amera Divoeny Walter, 17, Nur Syarifah Aminah Al Gulam, 16 and Khayra Khadeeja Binti Kairul Anwar, 8.
Speaking on the team’s preparation, Rizal said athletes trained daily in the lead-up to the tournament.
“The main challenge was helping student-athletes divide their time between training and school. Some of them almost did not have enough time to train, but thankfully they remained committed and attended training sessions every day,” he said.
He added that limited gym equipment was another challenge faced by the club.
“Our gym does not have enough equipment, so we use whatever is available. I have been gradually purchasing training equipment with my own money to improve the athletes’ comfort and training environment,” he said.
Despite the challenges, the results achieved by both the boxing and Muaythai teams reflect the dedication of the athletes, coaches and supporters behind SFG Bundu Tuhan’s growing success in combat sports.
