Kota Kinabalu: Sabah must strengthen its development delivery system and improve project implementation to ensure the State’s newly announced RM1.5 billion Special Interim Payment translates into tangible benefits for the people, said Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Supreme Council member Datuk John Ambrose.
While welcoming the Federal Government’s decision to increase Sabah’s annual interim payment from RM600 million to RM1.5 billion beginning next year, he said the State government must do so as to fully spend the RM1.5 billion interim payment to fulfil Sabahans’ needs and interests and for development of Sabah.
He said larger allocations alone would not guarantee better development outcomes if longstanding implementation delays and inefficiencies remained unresolved.
“The people do not merely want to hear announcements of new allocations. They want to see better roads, reliable water and electricity supply, improved healthcare services, quality education and greater economic opportunities
