KOTA BELUD: About 600 residents benefited from the Phase 4 Mobile Court Programme in Kota Belud held at the N9 Tempasuk State Constituency Service Centre on Saturday.
Tempasuk Assemblyman Datuk Mohd Arsad Bistari said the turnout reflected the programme’s importance in helping villagers facing identity document issues due to distance and financial constraints in accessing government services.

He said many rural residents in Sabah still encounter documentation problems that limit their access to education, healthcare and government assistance.
Arsad said most attendees were affected by delayed birth registration caused by unregistered or irregular marriages, logistical challenges, limited access to hospitals for home births and a lack of awareness of identity documentation laws in the past.
The programme brought together agencies including the National Registration Department, Native Court, Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department, Sabah Law Society, Kota Belud Health Department and Royal Malaysia Police, while providing services such as late birth registration endorsement, statutory declaration and commissioner for oaths matters, as well as legal advice.
