Bibi, Natasha bag overall title

Kota Kinabalu: Bibi Qeesha and Natasha Wong captured the marathon race overall title at the 38th Harvest Festival and Sabah Fest Open Day Regatta 2026 organised by Kinabalu Yacht Club (KYC) in Tanjung Aru which concluded on Sunday.

They outpaced the team of Danyal Marczqui Rahmat Haron Muzaffar and Muhd Iftitah Andi Malkbang, who finished in second place, and third spot was secured by Muhd Idris Mohd Zahawi and Muhd Nazmi Qusyairi Mohd Nazri.

Remarkably, the three winning pairs also rounded up the top three positions in the International 420 class marathon and series race.

The ILCA 7 marathon and series race title went to Adam Carraz followed by Chow Khai Yong and Abd Hakim Abd Latip in second and third places respectively.

In the ILCA 6 class marathon, Muhd Fikri Aqil Mohd Fouzi was the winner ahead of Nur Hafizahanani Zailan and Mohd Syahieradham Raiman. Firki Aqil also clinched the series race title, while Syahieradham finished ahead of Nur Hafizahanani in second spot.

The ILCA 4 class marathon’s top three positions went to Ryan Koh Yi Long, Nur Syameera Sofea Azaman, Elvy Koh Yi Xuan. Ryan also won the series race ahead of Elvy and Nur Syameera.

The kite’s men division marathon was won by Jarrow Danie Marcus and in second place was Abidin Aliakbar with Sandeep Singh Gill in third. The women’s title went to Kelly Yin followed by Amabel Seow Min Hui and Tiong Jia Yi.

A total of 112 sailors participated in the two-day annual event with the jury panel headed by Chin Al In from Kuala Lumpur assisted by Mih Yang Kim from Korea and Howie Suen from Hong Kong.

Winners in the other categories were Natalie Wong Qiao En, Muhd Harith Qaiser Ahmad Mokhdas, Timothy Ng (optimist marathon overall and series race); Hariz Iman Harizal, Siti Aina Abdullah, Datu Muhd Fayyadh Abd Fattah (marathon - optimist novice); Zeid Ashraf Zainal, Amirah Abdullah (windsurf open series race overall); Hariz Iman Harizal, Siti Aina Abdullah, Matthew Robert Hastie (series race - optimist novice open); Abidin Aliakbar, Guido Wiesenreita, Sandeep Singh Gill (windsurfing close - men division); Amabel Seow Mun Hui, Gabi Tan Shir Ping (windsurfing close - women); Dr Amabel Seow Min Hui (stand up paddle (sup) - women technical race – less than 12 feet board); Peterson Nianti, Gan Soon Shen, Chan Chee Han (sup - men technical race – less than 12 feet board); Susan Pan Yin Hsia (sup - women technical race – more than 12 feet board); Muhd Aswad Chong, Aprin Singkun, Muhd Aiman Zakwan (sup - men technical race – more than 12 feet board); Muhd Aswad Chong, Gan Soon Shen, Peterson Nianti (sup - men sprint race); Dr Amabel Seow Min Hui, Susan Pan Yin Hsia (sup - women sprint race); Muhd Aswad Chong (sup - men overall); Dr Amabel Seow (sup - women overall).

The closing ceremony was officiated by Sri Pelancongan Sabah’s deputy chairman Datuk Mohd Reduan Aklee and also present was KYC commodore Albert Shim.
