KOTA BELUD: Sekolah Kebangsaan Tamu Darat emerged champions of the 49th South Zone Kota Belud Schools Sports Council (MSS) Athletics Championship held at the Kota Belud Sports Complex, Friday.
Second place went to Sekolah Rendah Agama Gaur while Sekolah Kebangsaan Taginambur finished third overall in the championship.
The closing ceremony and prize presentation were officiated by Deputy Chief Minister III cum State Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.
This year’s South Zone MSS championship involved 18 primary schools from the Kadamaian state constituency, with Sekolah Kebangsaan Tuguson serving as the host school.
The championship also saw four new records set throughout the competition.
In his speech, Ewon who is also Kadamaian Assemblyman expressed appreciation and congratulations to all contingents, organising committee members, volunteers and government departments involved in ensuring the success of the event.

He also thanked Cement Industries Sabah for contributing RM30,000 through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to support the championship.
