TAWAU: Three separate road accidents were reported over three consecutive days from Wednesday to Friday, here, involving both serious and minor injuries.
Tawau police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the latest incident occurred at about 7.10pm on Friday involving a collision between a Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD vehicle and a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle.
He said the 47-year-old local motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was found unconscious following the crash at the Taman Pick Yard junction.
“The impact of the collision caused the victim to be thrown into a drain near a guardhouse.
“He suffered severe head and chest injuries, as well as a fractured left leg, and is currently receiving treatment at hospital,” he said here on Saturday.
Jasmin said the motorcyclist was believed to have been travelling home to Merotai Besar from work, while the driver of the 4WD was returning from Tawau Airport to his residence in Taman Pick Yard.

Initial investigations found that the 4WD driver had briefly stopped at the junction before proceeding to turn into the housing area, when he was suddenly struck by the motorcycle, which collided with the front right side of the vehicle.
On the second accident, Jasmin said the incident occurred at about 9.15am on Thursday along Jalan Kuhara near Jambatan Putih and Taman Semarak, involving a Toyota 4WD and a Toyota Avanza multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).
Both drivers survived the crash, although one suffered minor injuries.
The 39-year-old male 4WD driver was travelling from Tawau town towards Taman Ria Heights, while the 46-year-old woman driving the MPV was heading to Kg Titingan from Kg Sungai Imam before the two vehicles collided along a straight stretch of road.
Police investigations revealed that the woman lost control of the MPV before it veered into the opposite lane and crashed into the 4WD.
“In the incident, the MPV driver’s door became jammed and could not be opened. Firefighters had to cut open the door to rescue the trapped driver before she was sent to hospital,” he said.
Jasmin said the third accident occurred at about 12.15pm on Wednesday along Jalan Timur in front of Taman Eastern involving a Nissan semi-trailer lorry carrying a 10-tonne load, a Nissan Grand Livina MPV and a motorcycle.
He said the 37-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries to his right leg up to the knee, while the 37-year-old lorry driver and the 65-year-old MPV driver escaped unhurt.
